A keynote address by Indian IT minister Ravi Shankar Prasad will kick off a power-packed agenda bringing senior IT executives from across Europe around the table to delve into India’s leap forward as a global leader in the sector.

Manjeev Singh Puri assumed charge as the Ambassador of India to the European Union, Belgium and Luxembourg in January 2014.He was formerly India’s Deputy Permanent Representative to the United Nations for almost five years and a senior member of India’s Security Council team. He was actively involved with issues of sustainable development and environment and was a lead negotiator in India’s delegation at the UN Conference on Sustainable Development held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil in June 2012. He was also a key member of India’s delegation at various climate change negotiations, including the Major Economies Forum and the Conference of Parties of the UNFCCC in Copenhagen in December 2009.

Ambassador Puri has served on the Board of the Asia-Pacific Partnership on Clean Development and Climate and is on the Advisory Board of India’s most well-known environment organisation, TERI (The Energy and Resources Institute) in New Delhi.

R.S. Sharma is Secretary in the Department of Electronics and Information Technology of the Government of India. Prior to this assignment he has worked as Chief Secretary to the State Government of Jharkhand (India). His other assignments include Director General & Mission Director of the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI), where he was responsible for the overall implementation of this ambitious and challenging project undertaken by the Government of India to provide a unique identification to all its residents.

Before his posting with UIDAI, he worked with the Government of Jharkhand as Principal Secretary of the Departments of Science and Technology, Drinking Water & Sanitation, Information Technology (IT), Rural Development and Human Resources Development. As Principal Secretary of the IT Department, he was responsible for the formulation of state policies in the IT and e-Governance areas. He also over-saw the implementation of various e-governance projects in all the departments of the state government.

His contributions in the field of IT and e-governance have been widely recognised, both within India and outside.

Manoj is the founder and chief executive of the MLS Chase Group. He has interests in India focused advisory services, corporate affairs, and media. He is a Non-Executive Director of leading biotech firm Helperby Therapeutics Group and India Infrastructure Finance Company.

Manoj divides his time between his businesses and pursuing charitable and political interests in the UK and India. Manoj’s specialist areas are structuring international ventures and resolving complex disputes. He is a recognised expert on foreign direct investments into India.

In 2010 he founded India Inc. www.indiaincorporated.com a media organisation which includes platforms such as the India Global Business magazine, India Investment Journal and Policy India. Manoj was also a founder of Saffron Chase, a government relations and corporate communications consultancy which merged with his MLS Chase Group in 2012.

Manoj serves on the Advisory Boards of the Commonwealth Enterprise & Investment Council and the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce (UK).

He is an accomplished media commentator and is frequently invited to speak at international conferences. Manoj has authored over 100 articles and publications. He writes a popular weekly blog called “Globally Speaking” and is active on Twitter @manojladwa.

John Higgins CBE was appointed Director General of DIGITAL EUROPE, the association for the digital technology industry in Europe, in November 2011 following nine years leading its UK member association, Intellect.

After graduating from the University of East Anglia with an honours degree in Mathematics and then gaining a post graduate Diploma in Accounting and Finance, John began a career in IT. He trained as a systems analyst, held senior positions with Ernst & Young and worked in Chicago with leading software company SSA. In 1995 he was appointed CEO of the Rocket Networks, a California based dot.com that provided the world’s first online recording studios.

He returned to the UK in 1998 and became Director General of the Computing Services and Software Association, one of Intellect’s predecessors.

John is a member of the governing body of the University of Warwick and recent chair of its audit committee. John is President of the European Commission’s Strategic Policy Forum on Digital Entrepreneurship and was recently elected to the Board of the European Internet Foundation. John’s other recent committee chair roles include the cross industry association council of the CBI, a government/industry space committee and the global policy action committee of the World IT Services Association, WITSA.

He was board member of e-skills, the UK’s digital sector skills council and is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts. He was presented with two personal awards for outstanding contributions; first to the association sector in 2004 and then to the IT industry in 2008. The Queen appointed him a Commander of the British Empire (CBE) in 2005 for his services to the UK IT industry.

Prior to joining Microsoft, Mark worked for the law firm of Covington & Burling in its Washington, D.C. and Brussels offices from 1989 to 1998.  He graduated from the University of Virginia in 1981, and from Northwestern University Law School in 1989. Mark became a French citizen in 2010.

Mark’s current work on cloud computing focuses on the policy framework and business services that will enable Europe to capture the economic benefits of this technology evolution in a digital single market.  He is also a Board Member of the Ideas Matter consortium, which focuses on the positive contributions of ideas and innovation for society and the enabling role that intellectual property plays.

Anu Madgavkar is a senior fellow with the McKinsey Global Institute (MGI), McKinsey’s business and economics research arm. Anu joined MGI in 2011 and leads teams based in India, working on global as well as India-focused research.

Her recent research has focused on economic development, growth, and poverty alleviation in India and developing countries, applying technology to solve growth and economic development challenges in India and developing countries, and global labour market trends.

Previously, Anu was a partner at McKinsey based in Mumbai, where she co-led McKinsey’s financial institutions practice in India.
